Midwest Fresh Logistics, a refrigerated products logistics provider, was formed to provide the fresh food industry with an agile and efficient solution for transporting and delivering products as quickly as possible. Midwest Fresh receives shipments from sources nationwide, sorts and reloads product to be delivered to food distribution warehouses across the central United States.
Food service and retail operations require most distributors to source fresh produce from multiple vendors and locations in less-than-truckload (LTL) quantities. Time is critical, and the product requires unique, specific handling. Midwest Fresh has the expertise and refrigerated facility to manage the process skillfully and efficiently. Long-haul shipments delivered by team driving carriers are broken down and consolidated for regional delivery from the South Dakota dock in less than truck load (LTL) quantities. By using our service, customers benefit from reduced inventory levels, faster delivery times and lower logistics costs overall.
Midwest Fresh opened a state-of-art refrigerated warehouse and cross-dock facility in October 2016. Centrally located near the intersection of Interstate 29 and Interstate 90, in Dell Rapids, South Dakota, the facility is only four to eight hours from most Midwestern destinations. The facility is temperature controlled by zone and all dock area is refrigerated, conditions satisfying the most demanding cold-chain requirements. The refrigerated dock has a flow-through design to facilitate rapid unload and reload processes. President Rick Wallin has decades of experience in handling fresh product in kitchen, retail, transportation and distribution environments.
